I noticed that you shot these in Av. I think that you could see some immediate improvements in some of these if you shot in Tv instead. Mainly with consistency.

Av is Aperture Priority (Aperture value) - set the aperture and the camera will select the shutter speed
Tv is Shutter Priority (Shutter value) - set the shutter speed and the camera will set the aperture
As opposed to full manual where you select BOTH aperture and shutter speed

I have to disagree as long as you keep an eye on S/S. I will quite often in changing conditions shoot Av to control DOF and use ISO to control S/S.
But there is more than one way to skin a cat.
Nice set Think some of the highlight s are a bit hot though did you use any Ev (-2/3) would of helped I think

True, there is definitely more than one way to skin a cat.
But if you look at pics 2 and 3, they appear to have been shot in roughly the same place and with in 10 minutes or so of each other. My preference for side shots is to show some motion in the wheels. Shot 2 has a little of that 3 has almost none. Aperture is the same for both, but the shutter speed on 2 is 1/500 while 3 is 1/800. If the camera was set to Tv these would both show motion and you would not notice the difference in the dof.
For me, dof comes into play more when you are doing head on or rear shots where you can't see the wheels.

I don't think that Av is wrong and Tv is right...they both have their place and I use them both just as much as manual.

While panning, I will usually use Tv or manual. But if I am getting close to aperture limit of the lens (f22/f32) then I might switch to Av and set it to the limit of the lens. Then I know that I will not have any exposure issues. Manual works here also.

Head on or rear shots I might shoot in Av or manual. This helps me control dof better as I am not as concerned with showing motion. If I do want to show motion then I'll switch to Tv. Manual is nice for head on shots if they have their headlights on.

Everyone is going to shoot differently for sure. This is just one way that has worked for me so far.

Keep the banter up, interesting to read how others like to shoot, espiecally when it comes to 4 wheels.
How often do I shoot these guys?
Wouldnt be much difference on settings etc only the size of the target. Remeber mainly motorx here.

All comes down to personal peference & what your after.
